Two Cardinals & a Squirrel

Two cardinals flew at full tilt directly into a dense holly tree.  With furious wings beating the air, they both emerged a few minutes later.  On occasion, I've needed to extract a basketball or baseball from that holly tree; and no matter how hard I try and how slowly I ease my hand into that tree, I cannot navigate the prickly ends of those leaves.

How then do two cardinals fly full force into the tree unscathed and land on a perch near the trunk of the tree?

On a separate front, activity around birdfeeders sure is fun to watch.  It doesn't matter what you try to do, you cannot prevent a squirrel from figuring out how to get to the feeder.  That squirrel out back is particularly ingenious and dexterous.  He (or she!) is really amazing to watch.  I wonder how they learn, and particularly when the risk they take is so high compared to the reward of their endeavor -- have you ever seen a squirrel scampering along the top of a high telephone or electrical wire?

The best we can imagine and create can't be fairly compared to the wonder and glory of what we neither imagined nor created.  Nature for all its "naturalness" is filled with a "supernatural glory."  When I take the time to think on these things, it blows my mind.

And all this from just two cardinals and a squirrel.
