A First
In a few years of blogging, I've never posted twice on one day. But I had two poems that just happened to land on paper on the train last week. So I'm posting them here to remember them. The first post was Advent in March (like Christmas in July). This poem, though, is totally different, as you'll see.
With compassion as our guide,
I will join you by your side
Walking through this life we know
Falling often as we go
When we stumble on our way
The pain is slow to go away
Knots that form inside us then
Tighten through the night again
Darkness holds us in its grip
Til we feel our hands will slip
Letting go will cause remorse
But if feels like the only course
We can't change our history
Can't remove the mysteries
That block us from the gentleness
Key to cure our loneliness
And so we pray for help today
Knowing that our frame is frayed
Broken down, we turn to You
Begging you to make us new
With compassion as our guide
I will join you side-by-side
Even though the road is rough
You are more than enough
