Things I Don't Understand
This could be a very long list, so this is not exhaustive. But I started thinking about this topic on the train to Philadelphia this morning, and here's what popped into my head as things I don't understand this morning:
1. Inspiration -- where it comes from, where it goes, why it's so strong sometimes and so absent others
2. Relationships -- why they're so easy at times and so hard at others, why familiarity breeds contempt, how what attracts one to another often becomes the very thing that drives one away later
3. Communication -- why the best attempts at communication often fail because one party conveys something they don't intend to convey or the other party hears something differently than the other party intended and why that happens a lot in a family setting (first and foremost) and in a work setting (secondly) and frankly in every setting.
4. Strength and Weakness -- why I can feel so strong and confident at some moments and on some days and why I can feel so weak and vulnerable at other moments and on some days; how this difference can be felt on the same day only moments apart; why other people have such an impact on this dichotomy
