Reminiscence
Blankets, coats, dresses and flowers
Moulin Rouge and a '33 Packard
Backdrop for a romantic movie
An extravagant scene and
Contented vignette
At the same time that
All seems surreal
This union is authentic,
Genuine and tangible
So deeply satisfying
The man with the brown bowler hat
Russled up the overnighters
And delivered them to Pepin's room
Warmed by a log-consuming fire
Symbolic of the flames
Fueled by the merrywidow
No curtains drawn, no comparisons here
For the two who will be one
Guided by Bridea, Gibran,
Lewis and Colossians
Lucky we are
As our prayers for grace were granted
Loved by each other
Loved too by our Lord
The mature children joined
In a gift and rehearsal of sorts
on New Year's Day
So close your eyes now, love,
And see the magnificent smile of
Our good, good God
In full communion
With all who are loved
