Submission to Reality
All of my life
I have been practicing
Practicing to let go
Letting go is learned and
Natural only in the way
The way of all evolution
Gradually, the soma
And the psyche join
They come to understand
The grandeur of the
Backyard copper beech
And how they had nothing
Nothing at all
To do with it
But something else did
Sovereign something
Teaching me over time
To accept reality
The question I have
About all such contemplation
Is the unlikely pairing
Of action with thinking
How to let go
And, concomitantly, act
How to let go
And when and
When not to
Retirement is such a
Foreign concept
Final stage of release
Submission to reality
