Pummeled & Polished
When the snow melts in spring
Rivers come in torrents
Tumbling rocks for miles
That days before were dormant
Once jagged stones are pummeled
And pushed to their endurance
And slowly each is polished
When subjected to the current
But in summer, when we find them
They are resting on the islet
With no evidence remaining
Of a spring so deeply violent
We marvel at the beauty
Of the the colored polished stones
That rest in peaceful slumber
In their temporary homes
