The Way from Here to There

On the way from here to there

The slowest vehicles--
The weightiest trucks lumbering
Beneath the tons of all that gravel
The fifteen year old Camry
Under the control of an octogenarian
Hunched shoulders, chest near the wheel
Seat fully forward
The pickup bed stuffed full
With chairs, mattresses, box springs
And all that someone owns--
All these vehicles that I am behind

They will get there, too
