Caregivers

The caregivers attending to my mother
Come from every race, religion, geography, ethnicity
They are kind and patient
Competent and caring
Firm, but loving

They speak English
With accents unknown to Southerners
But recognized from my travels
The Philippines, Nepal, Uganda
Places I have not yet been

But I understand from journeys
To 35 countries in 36 months
Where I've witnessed the beauty
Of this world and the people therein
We share common ancestry

Our Father,
Who art in Heaven,
I pray again today
A blessing on each of these caregivers
Tending to my mother.

She is my Mary
They are my friends, my John,
The disciples whom Jesus loves,
Grant them strength and patience
In their occupation of dispensing love

From Above.
